Ecology and BREEAM Assessment

To advise client on site development and mitigation, ensuring compliance with ecological legislation
To provide documentary evidence to meet assessment criteria under the Building Research Establishment Code for Sustainable Homes, EcoHomes and BREEAM for Offices assessment methods.

Aardvark EM Ltd were commissioned by Summerfield Developments (SW) Limited to assess and report on the ecology and constraints of multiple sites being considered for commercial development in the south west
For each site, Aardvark undertook a historic flora and fauna records search and site visit undertaking a Phase 1 Habitat Survey; species presence or absence survey; species log and an ecological opportunities/constraints survey
Delivery of the project provided the clients with a detailed report on the ecology present within and around the chosen sites and ecological constraints on development and mitigation plans where required. A BREEAM assessment compliant report specific to the assessment criteria required was produced for each site
Where necessary Aardvark was also instructed and undertook, further detailed ecological survey work negotiating with statutory consultees and other interested parties, such as Natural England and local Wildlife Trusts.
