Ecology and Code for Sustainable Homes Assessment

Project Objectives
- To survey and assess sites for notable and protected species (flora and fauna)
- To advise client on site development and mitigation, ensuring compliance with ecological legislation
- To provide documentary evidence for BREEAM assessors in compliance with the assessment criteria; Code for Sustainable Homes, EcoHomes and BREEAM for Offices.
Delivery
- Aardvark EM Ltd has been approached by Charter (Southwest), in the past three years, to assess and report on the ecology and constraints of multiple sites being considered for development
- For each site Aardvark undertook a historic flora and fauna records search and site visit. Site visits comprised a Phase 1 Habitat Survey, species presence or absence survey, species log and ecological constraints survey
- Delivery of the project provided the clients with a detailed report on the ecology present within and around the chosen sites, ecological development constraints and possible solutions and BREEAM assessment compliant report specific to the assessment criteria required
- Supplementary for some of the sites Aardvark was instructed and undertook further detailed ecological survey work negotiating with interested parties, such as Natural England (previously 'English Nature').
