Project Objectives
- To sample and collect material from site for chemical analysis;
- To classify and broker material for disposal;
- To advise client on remediation strategy.
Delivery
- Aardvark EM Ltd was approached by JLT to advise on remediation and provide disposal options for a contaminated land redevelopment project, converting an old gas works site to a supermarket.
- Aardvark undertook in-situ and ex-situ soil sampling in accordance with Investigation of Potentially Contaminated Sites – Code of Practice (BS 10175:2001), with samples sent to a third party laboratory. Results were processed using Aardvarks in-house classification software and Environment Agency Waste Acceptance Criteria (WM2).
- Aardvark negotiated a materials disposal strategy with the Environment Agency and Mid-Devon District Council and brokered analysed material arisings from the redevelopment.
- Delivery of the project provided the clients with a fast and accurate material analysis and disposal process in accordance with all relevant legislation and requirements of governing bodies.
- Supplementary to the original proposal Aardvark negotiated a certificate of (landfill tax) exemption for a proportion of the arisings.
