Aardvark project
Contaminated Land Assessment
| Location: Bishops Lydeard, Somerset | Client: Falcon Rural Housing |
| Date: July 2005 | Sector: Environment |

Project Objectives:
- Determination of a risk assessment based on source-pathway-reception analysis and the risks imposed to human health and the environment
- Data collation to verify contamination and/or site interaction leading to further intrusive investigation
- An indicative level of any remediation required.
How Aardvark Delivered:
- Aardvark undertook a desktop survey of the site using an historical data search to highlight any previous potential contaminative uses of the site. This showed that the site was located next to a former railway yard with the potential for contaminants and therefore an intrusive investigation was undertaken
- Aardvark used it’s micro auger and drilling rig to undertake an investigation to 2m in depth at various windows sampling points across the site
- This data was then analysed, by a 3rd party laboratory, for potential toxic elements and metals and cross referenced to a conceptual site model which was drawn from the results of the hydrogeology survey of the site
- The results of the sampling and analysis show the site to be free from contamination and no remediation was required.
