The Aardvark Planning & Development team has been successful in securing two further planning consents for standalone Solar PV developments ahead of the Government's deadline for the early review of the large scale solar Feed in Tariff.
Due to the early review it is unlikely that the scheme in Mid Devon will be built out in time however, construction at the Cornwall one at Hendra Holiday Park near Newquay is already well under way and is anticipated to be generating as soon as the 8th July. This will make it the first in Cornwall to be completed and one of the first few in the UK.
Cornwall County Councils Strategic Planning Committee praised the scheme for its direct link into the Cornish economy as the scheme will provide up to 64% of Hendra electricity requirements, a welcome change from the 3rd party investment led schemes.
Planning Officers expressed their disappointment that of the 31 schemes that they have granted consent for only 11 are likely to meet the 31st July deadline and that the uncertainty of DECC's early review means Cornwall has missed out on a great opportunity of contributing towards their renewable energy targets.
